Educator Development & Induction Systems

Building educator and leadership capacity through scalable, system-aligned models

WIU Statewide Educator Induction Program

The Westmoreland Intermediate Unit’s Statewide Educator Induction Program provides a comprehensive, PDE-approved pathway that supports new educators and non-teaching professionals in building the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed for long-term success.  Through a structured, research-based model, participants engage in meaningful professional learning experiences that connect directly to classroom practice and district priorities.  The program offers flexible pathways, including Structured Literacy and Action Research, allowing districts to align induction with their instructional goals and initiatives.  By investing in high-quality induction, districts strengthen educator retention, accelerate professional growth, and build internal capacity for sustained instructional improvement.  Designed for scalability and coherence, this program ensures a consistent, high-impact onboarding experience that contributes to stronger systems and improved student outcomes.

The WIU Statewide Educator Induction Program is built on a comprehensive, research-based framework that supports educators from foundational practice through continuous professional growth.  Participants begin by developing a deep understanding of their learners and by designing intentional, standards-aligned instruction within positive, inclusive classroom environments.  As the program progresses, educators strengthen their instructional delivery, feedback practices, and professional responsibilities, ensuring alignment with ethical standards and district expectations.  The second phase emphasizes reflective teaching, data-informed decision-making, and relationship-building to enhance student learning and professional effectiveness.  By focusing on continuous improvement, sustainability, and long-term growth, the program equips educators with the skills and mindset to thrive and contribute meaningfully to their school systems.
