How to Refer a Child

How to Refer a Child

If your child or a child in your care is experiencing challenges with communication (such as speaking or understanding language), mobility (including walking or fine motor skills), sensory abilities (such as hearing or vision), or cognitive development (such as learning and problem-solving), they may benefit from a developmental screening or evaluation. These assessments help determine whether the child qualifies for preschool Early Intervention services, which provide specialized support to enhance their development.

To begin the process, you can submit a referral for a developmental screening or evaluation through the Westmoreland Intermediate Unit.

To ensure a timely evaluation or screening for your child, it is essential to provide all required information on the referral form. Incomplete referrals may result in delays in processing, which can postpone the initiation of services. Please review your submission carefully to ensure all necessary details are included.

Please visit www.mykeepcurrent.com, click the green “Make Referral” button, and select “Westmoreland Intermediate Unit EI” when prompted. You will then be directed to our universal referral form, where you will enter information about the child and their family.
