Speech and Language Therapy

Early Intervention Services

Speech and Language Therapy Services are designed to address the individual needs of each child as outlined in their Individualized Education Program (IEP). A licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) delivers these services through various evidence-based models, ensuring targeted support in communication development.

Service Delivery Models:
  • Consultative Services: The SLP collaborates with early intervention staff to support the implementation of specialized instruction focused on speech and language development. This indirect model equips educators and caregivers with strategies to enhance communication skills in the child's learning environment.
  • Communication Group Model: This structured group setting offers children opportunities to practice communication skills within natural daily routines such as snack time, crafts, play, and storytelling. Staffed by an SLP, these groups address various communication needs, including articulation, language development, social communication, and motor planning.
  • Small Group Instruction: In this model, the SLP provides therapy in a structured setting with two children, allowing for peer interaction and collaborative practice of speech and language targets.
  • Individual Speech/Language Instruction: The SLP delivers one-on-one therapy, either in a separate pull-out session or within a specialized preschool classroom or typical early childhood setting. This intensive approach ensures targeted intervention tailored to the child's specific communication needs.
