Early Intervention Parent Handbook

Early Intervention Parent Handbook

A Message from the Director of Early Childhood Services

Welcome to the 2025–2026 Early Childhood Services Parent Handbook.

As Director of Early Childhood Services at the Westmoreland Intermediate Unit, it is my privilege to work alongside families, educators, and specialists who are dedicated to helping young children learn and thrive. This handbook has been created to serve as a practical guide for families, offering clear information about our programs, services, policies, and the supports available to you and your child.

Early Intervention is built on partnership. Parents and caregivers are vital members of the educational team, and your involvement helps ensure that services are meaningful, effective, and responsive to your child’s unique needs. Within these pages, you’ll find resources that outline what to expect from our programs, your rights as a parent, and ways to stay engaged in your child’s early learning journey.

We encourage you to explore this handbook, refer to it throughout the year, and reach out to our team whenever you have questions or need support. Together, we can provide the foundation every child deserves for a lifetime of learning and success.

Sincerely,
Dr. Jason A. Stragand
Director of Early Childhood Services
