welcome to the Westmoreland Intermediate Unit we invite you to take a moment to learn about the many ways we serve the students in schools in Westmoreland County we are excited to discover our unique service agency and the many professionals who work everyday in the pursuit of supporting education in our region Pennsylvania's 29 intermediate units were established in 1970 by the Pennsylvania General Assembly they operated Regional educational service agencies to provide cost-effective as well as management efficient programs to Pennsylvania School District the 29 intermediate units in Pennsylvania provide services to school districts charter schools and over 2,400 nonprofit and private schools across the Commonwealth while providing quality instruction over 50,000 Pennsylvania students Westmoreland Intermediate Unit provides support and services to the 17 school districts of Westmoreland County in addition we support all Charter and private schools as well as central eastern and Northern Career and Technical centers our services are diverse and custom tailored to the needs of each individual School the Westmoreland Intermediate Unit executive services division lead the implementation of the organization's mission and vision the mission is to provide a collective system of support to enhance educational opportunities for our community and the Learners we serve sing the vision to equip all learners for success by providing high-quality purposeful and fiscally responsible solutions to community needs under the leadership of executive Services the Intermediate Unit is organized into for service divisions curricula Financial student in technology and infrastructure Services the operation of Human Resources is embedded into the executive services division executive Services serves as a conduit to the board of directors and provides collaborative leadership the 17-member School District 3 career and Technology Centers in one charter school in addition executive Services serves in the state-level organization such as Pennsylvania Association of intermediate units the primary goal of the curriculum services division is to advance the practice of teaching and learning for the schools and students we serve through Innovative practice we strive to be the premier leading expert in curriculum Services operating an integral part of our local Regional and State education Community as the liaison between the Pennsylvania Department of Education in our schools we serve as a support for initiatives and programs while working with our schools to assist with implementation world class professional development workshops and services such as curriculum development distance learning English learner and stem we provide a wealth of opportunities for educators to achieve growth in their field the curriculum division team is comprised of highly qualified and talented professionals with years of experience in the field of Education the Westmoreland Intermediate Unit Financial Services Division provides services to internal and external clients the division directs the organization spy Andrew operations processes payroll benefits purchase orders and financial reporting responsibilities for the finance division also has returned disability for the joint purchasing activities for the Westmoreland Intermediate Unit for items such as multi-purpose paper diesel fuel and unleaded gasoline The Joint purchasing program's goal is to obtain quality products and services at the lowest price participating school districts in career and Technology Centers purchase materials and supplies while eliminating the cost of the good procedures the program is this school district by preparing specification advertising in analyzing bids conducting opening recommending bid Awards and notifying successful and unsuccessful bitters in Edition participant save money because of volume purchasing technology and infrastructure Services consist of professional providing districts with a comprehensive approach to technology the division supports the day-to-day function and safety of our facilities are teens and provide consultation implementation and support on a wide variety of related to the division operates are two primary facilities including our administration building that houses 75 full-time employees as well as itinerant workers from various Student Services Program the building consists of 32 officer and 46 cubicle spaces in addition there are eight meeting rooms utilize for both in-house Services as well as rental to Area Agency our clairview school location provides a special learning environment for students with various academic the student services division offers a variety of unique individual Focus services for people with special needs and supports research and development for those that work with people with special needs years we've expanded our reach using our expertise to provide products and services agency parents preschool and adult learner the cross southwestern Pennsylvania we serve Learners is early as Age 3 supporting our core mission to improve quality of life and
