The Aspire to Teach Expo will take place at St. Vincent College, Fred Rogers Center, on February 13, 2025 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
Hosted by the Westmoreland Intermediate Unit, the Expo is a collaboration with Westmoreland County school districts and in partnership with St. Vincent College’s (SVC) Education Department. This one-of-a-kind informational event is designed to reach those with bachelor’s degrees (who may be working in other fields) as well as new education graduates.
Attendees will have the opportunity to visit Westmoreland County school district tables to meet with leaders about job opportunities in schools. In addition, K -12 educators will also be on hand serving as teacher mentors. They’ll talk one-on-one with attendees about their roles and paths in education, as well as answer questions.
Another featured part of the Aspire to Teach Expo will be the St. Vincent College Education Department General Information and Breakout Sessions for attendees to learn about pathways to becoming a teacher.
St. Vincent College General Information sessions will be offered at 4:30 pm and 5:00 pm. The Breakout Sessions will offer more detailed information on fellowships and internships with schools and will also address post-baccalaureate and emergency certification. These one-half-hour Breakout Sessions will run concurrently in two rooms and will be offered at 5:30 pm, 6:00 pm, and 6:30 pm.
Participating Westmoreland County school districts are Greater Latrobe, Greensburg Salem, Kiski Area, Ligonier Valley, Mount Pleasant, New Kensington-Arnold, Norwin, Penn-Trafford, Southmoreland, and Yough.
